How to Apply for a Job Vacancy

Job applications can be submitted online, emailed or posted to us.

What to Include

To apply for a vacancy you must submit the completed Application Form, a cover letter and and your current CV.

Where to Send Your Application

You can email your completed Application Form to vacancy@tasman.govt.nz providing it arrives by the closing date. Or you can post it to:

What Happens Next?

After the closing date, relevant staff shortlist the applicants for the interview process.
Only staff that are involved in the application process will view the information you provide in your application.
These applicants are contacted by the Human Resources Team to arrange interviews.
If you are from outside the Nelson / Tasman area, the Council will give reasonable assistance to cover your travel costs.
Generally, you will not be required to bring any extra documentation to the interview.
If you are unsuccessful in securing an interview you will be notified within two weeks of the closing date for the position.
Following the interview, unsuccessful applicants will be notified by letter.

The employment offer will generally be made verbally over the phone and supported by written confirmation.

Word version of the mandatory Application Form;
Current job description;
Salary range for the position;
Recruitment process and timeline.

Summer Holiday Work for Students

The Tasman District Council offers opportunities for students who are interested in working over the annual summer period - November to February.

How to Apply

Consideration for placement is given to students who:

Are available to work throughout the entire holiday period of November to February
Have preferably completed at least one year of tertiary study
Are studying for a qualification relevant to Council such as resource management, environmental science, applied sciences or engineering
Are physically fit and have a current full driver's licence
Are from the Tasman / Nelson region.

Work areas which Council is likely to have opportunities for placement in are within the Environment and Planning Department and Engineering Department.

Expressions of interest should include a covering letter detailing the area of study being undertaken, a current curriculum vitae.
