Information about Council Tenders

The majority of Council's tenders are managed by the Engineering Services Department who use the Local Government portal LGTenders to notify public tenders for roading and infrastructure works.

Tenders should be submitted in hard copy by the closing date to the Tasman District Council tenders box at Council’s Richmond office (or as otherwise specified in the Tender document).

LGTenders - Local Government Tenders website

Council's Property Services and Information Technology Departments manage a small number of tenders each year. These are publicly advertised.

Procurement Strategy

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) requires all Approved Organisations to have a Procurement Strategy to be eligible to apply for expenditure from the National Land Transport Fund. Tasman District Council is an Approved Organisation under the Land Transport Management Act.

Tasman District Council approved its Procurement Strategy in September 2010 and a review was conducted in September 2011. As a result, Council resolved that Section 6 be amended to increase the value of contracts awarded via Supplier Panels to $500,000 (was $300,000) from 1 October 2011. The Procurement Strategy has been revised to reflect that change.

The Procurement Strategy 2011 must comply with the NZTA Procurement Manual. This new Procurement Manual replaces the Transfund CPP (Competitive Pricing Procedures) Manual. Key NZTA Principles for Procurement detailed in the Procurement Manual include:

  • Best value for money over whole of life.
  • Open and effective competition.
  • Full and fair opportunity of domestic suppliers.
  • Improving business capabilities.
