Tasman Nelson Environment Awards
The Tasman Nelson Environment Awards recognise and celebrate people and organisations in our community who are making a difference both today and in the future. This page lists details of each category and provides links to entry forms.
Information and forms are available at all Nelson City and Tasman District Council offices and libraries, and at the bottom of this page. You can also email entries to Rob Francis.
Award Categories
No project is too big or too small. This year there are nine awards in eight categories:
- Environmental Leadership – Sponsored by Cawthron Institute Trust Board
- Community Groups – Sponsored by Nelson Pine Industries
- Rural– Sponsored by Landcare Research NZ
- Commercial – Sponsored by Newstalk ZB
- Schools – Sponsored by Resene
- Sustainable Design – Sponsored by Arrow International
- Best Use of Renewable Energy – Sponsored by EECA
- Heritage: Sites – Sponsored by New Zealand Historic Places Trust
- Heritage: Culture – Sponsored by Wakatu Incorporation
How Often
Annually. The awards are a joint Nelson City and Tasman District Council initiative.
Dates and Timelines
Entries are invited until September. Judging take place in October and the awards ceremony is held in November.
Criteria
Criteria for each category are given at the start of each entry form. Please read these first of all, and if further guidance is required on whether you should submit an entry, there is a contact for advice given at the end of each entry form. Remember that previous applicants are welcome to enter again (see the entry form for conditions of entry).
Selection
For each award category, a panel of judges will consider the nominations, carry out site visits as required, and select the winners.
Prizes
Prizes are awarded by sponsors and range in value from $500 - $1000.
How to Apply
Please download the form for the category you wish to enter (you can enter more than one if you wish) and return it by Friday 16 September. There is a contact person listed on the form for each category should you require any guidance with your nomination. Forms are also available at all Tasman District and Nelson City offices and libraries.
