Youth Week 4-12 May

Wednesday 24 April 2013

Young people and youth agencies in Nelson-Tasman are gearing up for a week-long programme of youth activities, events, workshops and exhibitions as Youth Week for 2013 is celebrated across the globe and in the Top of the South.

Youth week is about recognising the amazing contributions and achievements of young people in New Zealand. The week inspires us to value, support and affirm the diversity of young people in our society.

‘Live Like a Legend’ is the theme for the 2013 Youth Week campaign, which encourages young people to draw inspiration from legends of the past to enable them (young people) to be legends of today.  Celebrating success and the success of others as well as respecting yourself, your community and your environment are other important key messages youth week stands for.

Nelson Tasman Youth Workers Collective Coordinator Deanne Kilpatrick is excited with the enthusiasm and support the region has shown towards embracing youth week celebrations.

“There are some fantastic youth events planned for youth week, offering a variety of ways young people can be involved.”

The official Nelson-Tasman Youth Week Event Listing Brochure provides a comprehensive schedule of events on offer regionally and can be picked up from Nelson City and Tasman District Council Service Centres and Libraries or viewed online at www.jamonline.co.nz.
