Exercise Marble Mountain This Sunday

Thursday 12 October 2017

Fire and Emergency New Zealand crews from Golden Bay and wider Motueka areas will be holding an exercise this Sunday on the Takaka Hill.

Please use caution on the Takaka Hill road as several large fire trucks will be going in - and out - of driveways.

  • Sunday 15 October
  • 9.00 am to 2.00 pm

Visits to Properties

Crews will check driveway access to see if large vehicles can gain access, and complete a quick visual check.

A crew member in a smaller vehicle will visit first to assess the suitability of your driveway for the larger appliance.

Fire Crews will only have a short time to assess your driveway and defensible space, and may or may not get to talk to you on the day.

Other Activities

The Fire Crews will also undertake a vegetation hose line activity at Canaan, plus Helicopter Safety briefings, and Monsoon Bucket Filling Procedure training initially at Canaan, then in areas adjacent to the Ngarua Quarry and Henderson’s Airstrip.

The Exercise Command Unit will be set up beside at the Woolshed Café, with the Crew Taskings co-ordinated from there, by radio telephone.
