The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research Limited (NIWA), the Tasman District Council and the Foundation for Research Science and Technology operate a meteorological and Water quality monitoring buoy located in the centre of Golden Bay.
TASCAM is the Tasman Bay Cawthron & MBARI Mooring. It is located in western Tasman Bay and is used to remotely collect water quality data, including temperature, salinity, turbidity and chlorophyll.
