This calendar is produced for the region’s schools every year, highlighting the year’s environmental events and important theme days.

Environment studies play an important role in students' education. Many events throughout the year provide opportunities for unit studies.

Environmental topics cross many curriculum boundaries and Council is keen to assist teachers and students with resources, reports, expertise, or visits, plus working together on specific council/school projects.

Throughout the year there are events like Ecofest, Clean up NZ week and Sea Week, among others, that provide great opportunities for unit studies and student participation.
