Youth Council
The Tasman Youth Council is a youth forum sponsored by the Tasman District Council. It has youth representatives from secondary schools and the community throughout the Tasman district.



Who is on the Tasman Youth Council?
  • Year 12 and 13 representatives from secondary schools
  • Youth from the community
  • Youth workers from the five Tasman District wards
  • A councillor from the Tasman District Council
  • The Recreation Coordinator from the Tasman District Council



What does the Tasman Youth Council do?
  • Gives Tasman youth a real voice, so that young people can be heard and taken more seriously on the issues affecting youth in the district.
  • Brings the needs and concerns of young people to the attention of the community.
  • Encourages consideration of youth issues at local, regional and national levels.
  • Assists the Tasman District Council's planning of services and facilities for young people.
  • Organises events for young people throughout the district.
