Managing Fire Risk to New Rural Dwellings
The Council is intending to change the rules relating to the management of fire risk to new rural dwellings in areas where there is no water reticulation.
The new requirement is for either storage (45,000 litres) or reliable supply (25 litres/second for 30 minutes) of water within 90 metres of the house, or installation of a home sprinkler system.

Council has received comments on the draft proposal and the Environment and Planning Committee will consider them at its 29 February meeting.A decision on final proposed changes will be made at that time.
