Proposed Speed Limit Changes

Council has received comments on the draft proposal. These will be considered by the Engineering Services Committee prior to a final decision which will be publicly notified on Council’s website and via Newsline.
About the Changes
- The Council recently reviewed the speed limits on local roads in line with the Land Transport Rule Setting of Speed Limits 2003.
- These changes will require the Council to amend its current Consolidated Bylaw and in particular Chapter 4 Speed Limits Bylaw 2004.
- Under Section 86 of the Local Government Act 2002 Council is required to publicly notify any proposed changes to a Bylaw and enable interested parties to comment.

Maps showing both existing and proposed speed limits changes can be viewed at Council’s Service Centres and Tasman District Libraries in Richmond, Mapua, Motueka, Takaka and Murchison.
Key Dates
Comments on the above changes will be accepted up to 4.30 pm Thursday 22 December 2011.
