Seeking Ideas for Mapua Waterfront
Feedback closes 31 January 2017
How would you like the Mapua Waterfront area and surrounds to look like in the future?
Tasman District Council is looking for your ideas on the Mapua waterfront and adjacent areas. This information will guide future decision making on use of land, the amount and type of infrastructure, and funding needs in the Mapua waterfront and surrounds area.
It will focus on Council-owned land primarily as this is the area Council has most influence over (Waterfront Park, Mapua Wharf, remediated commercial and residential land, and Grossi Point).
Why are we doing the survey?
Visitor and resident numbers are increasing in Mapua.
This puts pressure on land, infrastructure (water, sewerage, roading, vehicle and boat trailer parking, lighting etc), recreational spaces and other facilities. Intensification of use can also impact on safety (on roads, footpaths and access to the water), community, amenity, cultural values and hazard responses.
This survey is just to test the initial views of the community.
There will be other opportunities to have input into the process as the development of an overall plan for the Mapua waterfront and surrounding area progresses.
