Tasman District Coast Landscape Character Assessment

In 2005 the Council commissioned a report about the sensitivities of the different coastal landscapes, and threats to the character of coastal areas. 

The report was prepared by Frank Boffa - a landscape architect with the environmental management consultancy Boffa Miskell - and released in August 2005.

The report identifies what our coastal landscape qualities are, their distinctive features, and sensitivity to change from potential development pressures. It offers recommendations for managing change in the different parts of our coastal environment, from Kahurangi Point on the northwest coast, to Waimea Inlet near Richmond.

In 2011 Frank Boffa revisited his earlier work and has put forward options for Outstanding Natural Features and Landscapes in Golden Bay. Details are available on the project page:
