Pre-Election Report 2016

The Tasman District Pre-Election Report summarises the key issues facing the Council, as well as outlining our financial performance and forecast financial position, ahead of local elections in October.

About the Report

The report is intended to assist discussions about the issues facing us in the lead-up to the 8 October 2016 local elections. A summary of the major projects that are either underway or proposed over the next three years is included, highlighting the significant role we play in planning for and delivering essential infrastructure across our District.

The six key challenges facing the District have been identified as:

  • providing a secure water supply;
  • responding to population growth;
  • natural disaster recovery;
  • rates affordability;
  • council debt;
  • and maximising our regional opportunities and partnerships.

The Pre-Election Report is also available in all Council libraries and service centres. The Chief Executive is required to produce the Pre-Election Report under the Local Government Act 2002.
