When is a Code of Compliance Certificate Required?
Code of Compliance Certificates are required:
- when the building work in your building consent is completed;
- when all fees are paid.
If a Code Compliance Certificate is not issued, you may face difficulties when trying to buy or sell a property.
How to Apply
To apply for your Code of Compliance Certificate:
- ensure all documentation is complete;
- forward your completed Application for Code Compliance Certificate to Council - make sure that daytime contact details are correct;
- you will be contacted to arrange an inspection time.
If the inspector finds that your project complies with the building consent and any outstanding fees are paid, a Code of Compliance Certificate will be issued. This effectively completes the building consent process.
If the Building Does Not Comply
If the building does not comply with the building consent documents or building code, a site instruction or notice to fix may be issued.
Until identified requirements are met a Code of Compliance Certificate cannot be issued.
One inspection for your Code of Compliance Certificate is covered by your initial Building Consent fees. Any additional inspections required will be on-charged.
