History

The reserve was set aside as a result of subdivision and was named in memory of former Waimea County Councillor, the late Alex Ryder, who represented the Motueka Riding in the days before the Tasman District Council came into being. Two other reserve areas have  been added, one known as the Beaches and Bays area and the other is a wetland. Together they are collectively known as the Little Kaiteriteri Reserve.

The Little Kaiteriteri Reserve provides an important area of open space on the beachfront for all to relax and enjoy. It’s the perfect spot to experience the quieter side of Kaiteriteri.
