About the Trustpower Community Awards

Each year, Nelson and Tasman residents have the opportunity to formally recognise the dedication of their local voluntary groups.

Nominations are open to all voluntary groups and organisations working to make this region a better place to live.

The awards cover five categories:

  • Heritage and Environment;
  • Health and Wellbeing;
  • Arts and Culture;
  • Sport and Leisure; and
  • Education and Child/Youth Development.

Category winners receive $500, runners-up receive $250 and the Supreme Winner will take home $1,500, a trophy and an all-expenses paid trip for two representatives to the 2017 Trustpower National Community Awards.

Sports and Leisure:

  • Commendation: Nelson Mountain Bike Club
  • Runner up: Target Shooting Nelson

Education and Child Youth Development:

  • Commendation: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nelson
  • Commendation: The Society of St Vincent de Paul Vinnies Youth

Nelson winner:
