Lower Queen Street Pipe Upgrade Project

This page provides details about a project to upgrade and replace sewer, water and stormwater pipes in Lower Queen Street, Richmond.

This work is required to provide for subdivision growth in Richmond West and affects Lower Queen Street between Stafford Street and McShane Road.

About the Project

There are several phases of work to upgrade the water, wastewater and stormwater networks in Richmond West.

The construction programme is planned to take place this year and next year.

Headingly Lane Sewer Upgrade 

This project involves extending the 300mm sewer main along Headingly Lane and across Lower Queen Street to a new manhole. 

The manhole provides a network connection point for several property developments.

The work is planned to start on 20 November 2017 and be complete by February 2018.

Lower Queen Street Water and Sewer Upgrade

This project involves replacement of the current watermain and installation of a new low-pressure sewer. 

Work is expected to start mid-January 2018 and progress for eight weeks.

Lower Queen Street Stormwater

A large stormwater pipeline will run from near the Nelson Malborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) to 428 Lower Queen Street.

This contract is being tendered now and work will start as soon as possible in 2018.
