Lower Queen Street Pipe Upgrade Project

This page provides details about a project to upgrade and replace sewer, water and stormwater pipes in Lower Queen Street, Richmond.

This work is required to provide for subdivision growth in Richmond West and affects Lower Queen Street between Stafford Street and McShane Road.

Traffic Delays

  • Road users should expect traffic delays between January and June 2018.
  • One lane will be open at all times, however some of the work will impact traffic flows.

About the Project

There are several phases of work to upgrade the water, wastewater and stormwater networks in Richmond West.

The construction programme began in 2017 and is planned for completion in June 2018.

Headingly Lane Sewer Upgrade

This project involves extending the 300mm sewer main along Headingly Lane and across Lower Queen Street to a new manhole. The manhole provides a network connection point for several property developments.

Lower Queen Street Water and Sewer Upgrade

This project involves replacement of the current watermain and installation of a new low-pressure sewer.

Work will start on 15 January by Downer NZ and planned for completion by the end of May 2018.

Lower Queen Street Stormwater
