Public Transport Around Tasman and Nelson

This page gives you local bus service information and timetables, and links you to the Tasman Regional Passenger Transport Plan.

NBus - Richmond-Nelson Bus Service 

The NBus runs between Richmond and Nelson seven days a week. Buses are wheelchair accessible and have bike racks. The service is operated by SBL Ltd.

Routes 

There are two main routes, one via Stoke and Tahunanui and one via Bishopdale.

Fares and Concessions 

Full fare (Richmond to Nelson) for an adult is $4. A range of concessions and multi-trip discounts are available.

  • Children aged under five years travel free.
  • A child fare applies to anyone aged between five and 15 years or enrolled in secondary school while wearing a school uniform or on production of a school ID card.
  • The student / Community Services cardholder fare applies to those aged 18 and under or enrolled in a Nelson or Tasman tertiary institution on production of an ID card, and Community Services cardholders on production of their card.
  • Holders of SuperGold cards can travel for free on off-peak services (9am-3pm and after 6.30pm weekdays and all weekend).  Outside of these hours a full fare must be paid.

The Late Late Bus 

The Late Late Bus is a night transport service that runs between Richmond and Nelson on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 10.00 pm from outside Westpac Bank on Trafalgar Street in Nelson. The bus leaves Nelson on the hour and returns from Queen Street, Richmond, back to Nelson on the half hour. Download the Late Late Bus Timetable (pdf 615kb)
