Bridges
Council manages 518 bridges in the Tasman District and each year some are earmarked for replacement. There are a number of historical suspension bridges with the oldest being the 91.4 metre Pokororo foot bridge at Ngatimoti, built in 1894. Others include the Salisbury footbridge over the Aorere River in Golden Bay, built in 1902 and washed away in 2010, and the Baton River footbridge which was built in 1906.
