Speed Limits
All roads within the Tasman District have a Speed Limit. These are set under the Speed Limit Bylaw.
Holiday Speed Limits
Holiday speed limits are posted in a few locations in Golden Bay during the Summer Period when there is a high influx of holiday makers that increase the level of activity on the road, for example the numbers of pedestrians and cyclists on the road, amount of parking along the road or recreational activity happening close to the road. By reducing the permanent speed limit to a lower speed it will reduce the risk to vulnerable road users.
Holiday speed limits come into force from 20 December to 31 January of the following year. These seasonal speed limits are listed in Council's Speed Limit Bylaw. For a Holiday Speed Limit to apply, a Speed Limit Warrant must be undertaken and achieve an appropriate rating for the reduced speed limit proposed.
