Tomorrows event "History brought to Life" is postponed out of respect for the victims of the Christchurch attacks.
The History Brought to Life performers and Council felt that given the Christchurch tragedy we did not want to be running an event that clashed with the Race Unity event.
However that event has also been postponed, on the advice on the New Zealand Police.
The Nelson Multicultural Council have now organised a gathering at the Nelson Cathedral steps Sunday at 12.00 pm. They ask that women wear headscarves.
We invite you all to celebrate the diversity of the region, show your support and love for the cultures and beliefs that make our community what is is by attending Race Unity Day event which will now take place next week.
The event is at Nelson's Victory Square 11am to 4pm, Sunday 24 March.
We'll confirm the rescheduled date for "History Brought to Life" soon.
