Update 3.30pm
Water is about to be restored to the remaining parts of Murchison.
Please continue to conserve water for the next 2 to 3 hours to allow reservoir levels to fully recover.
Update 11.30am
Please be advised that water is resuming to most parts of Murchison now. The remaining affected area (Hampden and Brunner Streets) is outlined in the below map.
Repairs are expected to take another 5 to 6 hours.
An upstand will be fitted to a hydrant outside 22 Hampden Street for those that wish to collect water in containers until the outage is resolved.
A significant water main burst has occurred in Murchison meaning that we need to ask customers to immediately take steps to conserve water, wherever possible.
The burst has caused the reservoir to drain quickly and while the water treatment plant is still operational and supplying water to the network, it will be difficult to maintain sufficient reservoir levels and water pressure.
Our contractors are responding but will take some time to arrive onsite, and at this stage we do not have an expected timeframe for repair.
We therefore ask that customers conserve water wherever possible until further notice in order to preserve the amount of treated water in the reservoir and the network.
We will update you when normal flows have been resumed.
