Tasman Resource Management Plan (TRMP) Plan Change 81 - Urban Development was notified on Friday 19 June 2026. The submission period is open for 30 working days starting on Monday 22nd June 2026 and closes on Monday 3rd August 2026.
All submissions or feedback (including the names and contact details or address for service of submitters) are public information and may be made available to the public and media in various reports and formats including on Council’s website. Names and contact details are required to be public to enable any further submissions to be served on submitters. Personal information will also be used for administration relating to the subject matter of submissions. Submitters have the right to access and correct any personal information included in any reports, information, or submissions.

Plan Change Details and Documents
Plan Change 81 – Urban Development proposes to amend the Tasman Resource Management Plan (TRMP), and it is being notified in parallel with Change 1 to the Tasman Regional Policy Statement. It responds to the shortfall in development capacity, particularly for the short and medium term. It focuses on increasing capacity and aims to enable different building options for residential housing to meet demand, through intensification and greenfield expansion. It provides for additional business development and seeks to improve capacity of commercial centres throughout the district. This Plan Change gives effect to the National Policy Statement on Urban Development, the proposed changes to the Tasman Regional Policy Statement, the Future Development Strategy 2022-2052, and the Māpua Masterplan.
